The Florida Keys Birding and Wildlife Festival is proud to announce the 2013 keynote speaker is Rafael Galvez, the leader for the Florida Keys Hawkwatch, which takes place each fall at Curry Hammock State Park. He coordinates this annual citizen science event, which has counted record numbers of Peregrine Falcons and helped make the Florida Keys an international hotspot for viewing migrating Peregrines.
Here, Galvez watches the skies above the park for migrating raptors. He’s joined daily by volunteer counters and curious visitors.
Galvez will give a talk on Friday night during the festival, and he’ll also be leading several walks.
